Baked Spaghetti recipe

Baked Spaghetti

Preparation Time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 45 minutes Total Time: 1 hour Serves: 6-8


  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese

Instructions for Baked Spaghetti recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet and stir to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let cook for 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens.
  7. In a large baking dish, layer cooked spaghetti and meat sauce. Repeat the layers until all of the spaghetti and sauce is used.
  8. Sprinkle Parmesan and mozzarella cheese on top of the final layer.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

To dress it up:

  • You can top it with chopped parsley or basil before serving
  • Add some red pepper flakes for a little heat
