Baked Spaghetti
Preparation Time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 45 minutes Total Time: 1 hour Serves: 6-8
Ingredients:
- 1 lb spaghetti
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
Instructions for Baked Spaghetti recipe:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
- Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and let cook for 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens.
- In a large baking dish, layer cooked spaghetti and meat sauce. Repeat the layers until all of the spaghetti and sauce is used.
- Sprinkle Parmesan and mozzarella cheese on top of the final layer.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
To dress it up:
- You can top it with chopped parsley or basil before serving
- Add some red pepper flakes for a little heat
